    Easy Homemade Mango Lassi

This homemade mango lassi is a creamy mango Indian drink that is so easy to make at home and good for you too. This healthy mango lassi is an adapted version of the more traditional Indian drink, Lassi which is a plain sweetened yogurt drink.

    What is a Lassi

Most people are familiar with the mango lassi from Indian restaurants where they are almost always offered on the menu. Mango Lassi is an Indian drink that is made in India during their extremely hot summers.

This healthy mango lassi is an adapted version of the more traditional Indian drink, Lassi which is a plain sweetened yogurt drink.

Why you'll love this homemade mango lassi

The versions of mango lassi made in the restaurants will undoubtedly have simple syrups (sugar and water) which is not the most healthy version you could be drinking.

This mango lassi recipe is made with honey and greek yogurt to make it a bit healthier yet still tasting just as delicious as what you would find in an Indian restaurant. For me it is like a healthy mango milkshake. No guilt and all deliciousness.

A lassi is a little different than a smoothie since you are using fresh ingredients only. My smoothies usually involve frozen fruit to obtain that real thickness.

This mango lassi gets it's creaminess from a perfect balance of yogurt and fresh mango fruit.

    Ingredients needed

There are just a few ingredients you will need to make this delicious Indian drink at home.

Here is what you will need:

    • Fresh mangoes
    • Greek yogurt
    • Honey or more to taste (you can also opt to use a honey simple syrup if you prefer)
    • Ice. to thicken the mango lassi

    Best blenders for mango lassi

As I mentioned above, the balance of fruit to yogurt is important to get a really creamy consistency. The other really important element is having a good high powered blender.

Now not everyone can afford some of the more expensive blenders on the market but you know your blender best. The stronger the blender, the less liquid you need to get the ingredients blending. Just a helpful tip from years of frustration!

    How to make

Making a mango lassi is so easy that you really do not need much instructions to do it. Here are the steps:

    • Add mango, yogurt and honey to a blender.
    • Place the lid on blender and mix until smooth.
    • Taste for any additional honey that is needed.
    • If you want it a little thicker, add some ice to the lassi and mix again until it is the consistency you want.

This is the easiest and most delicious drink you can make.

    Variations

I absolutely love this drink just as it is, just mango and yogurt. I do sometimes like to add even more health benefits to the drink, especially if I am looking for a quick lunch idea.

My mango lassi with spinach added to it.

My favorite add-in for this mango lassi is definitely spinach. It will turn it green but the spinach flavor gets buried in the background and you will only taste the mango. I like to use about 1 cup of fresh spinach for this lassi upgrade.

I am sure you can add so many different items to your lassi that will all taste great. It is also perfect to enjoy just the way it is.

This drink is a really healthy and a tasty way to get some of your nutrients and I hope you give this one a try.

    Faqs

Can you make a mango lassi with Greek yogurt?

This mango lassi recipe is made with Greek yogurt and it works great for this Indian drink.

    Is a mango lassi healthy?

A traditional mango lassi has lots of added sugar so it can be a little unhealthy if you are watching sugar intake. This recipe uses honey to make a healthier mango lassi.
