This easy blackened baked salmon tacos recipe is loaded with amazing blackened spice flavor and it is delicious. We love slicing up the blackened salmon for tacos but you can serve it just as is. This blackened salmon tacos recipe makes juicy and delicious blackened salmon and the best salmon tacos around.

About this blackened baked salmon
In our house, we love any type of blackened fish or meat. One of our favorites is adding my tried and true blackened seasoning to salmon, which gives the fish a meaty bite and really elevates the flavors.
You can add this blackened seasoning to other fish as well because it is so good!
For this recipe, we love flaking up our blackened salmon filets and making them into tacos because we love tacos AND it is a great way to stretch the budget when buying a premium cut of fish when you are feeding a family.
Once cooked, the blackened salmon is placed into warm tortillas and topped with the easiest pickled topping. If you prefer even more crunch, you can make our cumin lime coleslaw which is also really delicious.
Simple Ingredients
The Salmon filets, flour tortillas, limes or lemons and blackened spices (chili powder, paprika, kosher salt, cayenne pepper) are the base for these tacos.
Taco toppings
This is jalapenos that are lightly pickled in vinegar and a yogurt sauce made with lime juice and cumin.
The pickled jalapeno peppers add that crunch element that is important in tacos.
How to make
The very first thing you want to do is make your blackened spice seasoning. Just press those salmon filets into the spice seasoning on a plate and make sure to coat all sides.
Once that is done you can start cooking the salmon for a little on the stovetop then off to the oven they go to finish baking.

While the salmon is cooking in the oven, you can start on those toppings! This is the creamy cumin yogurt and pickled jalapeno peppers.
Once the salmon is cooked all the way through, with two forks, gently flake apart the salmon into large pieces and that is your taco filling.

Making these blackened salmon tacos takes no time at all.
The salmon bakes up in minutes. If you have made our Mediterranean salmon or salmon in cast iron, it is as easy as those. I use salmon as my quick go to weeknight meals.

Variations
Instead of the yogurt sauce I also love adding Creamy sriracha sauce, Italian basil mayonnaise, Creamy cilantro dressing, Poblano cream sauce or a gochujang mayo. You can also serve it as is with no sauce or topping and it will be just as delicious.
If you prefer to make just the blackened salmon portion of this recipe and not do tacos, I suggest serving the salmon with, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, or even some borracho beans as a side!
Tips
Here are some of our tried and true tips based on our experience making these blackened salmon tacos.
- Do not sear the blackened salmon for too long or the blackened spice will char which you do not want. You are looking for a golden brown color before that salmon goes into the oven.
- Warm those tortillas! Make sure you take the time to warm the tortillas in a hot pan on the stove. Just set a pan over medium heat and warm each side of the tortilla for about 30 seconds.
- Buy good quality salmon.
