About this spicy mayo

I love recipes where we can jazz up simple meals with a quick sauce like this gochujang mayo. I love adding this sauce to hotdogs, hamburgers and even using it as a dip for fries.

Sometimes simple recipes like this Korean mayo can really make the most delicious meal. I also love that it makes use of any extra gochujang I have from a previous meal.

What is Gochujang Mayo

This Gochujang mayo is a mixture of mayonnaise (not kewpie which is Korean mayo- more on that below), gochujang sauce, and a couple of spices. We also like to add a little squeeze of lemon at the end to brighten up the flavors of the spicy mayo.

The gochujang sauce can be found at almost all local grocery stores these days and it is not the same as gochujang paste.

The gochujang sauce is the gochujang paste mixed with some spices. The good news is most stores will only carry the sauce which is helpful for you all making this recipe 🙂

What You Will Need

gochujang mayo ingredients

The ingredients to make this spicy Korean mayo are so simple. Aside from the gochujang sauce, the rest you probably already have in your pantry.

You will need:

  • Mayonnaise. You want to use regular mayonnaise for this recipe not Korean mayonnaise called Kewpie. This is because the Korean mayo is very sweet and it throws off the balance of this Gochujang mayonnaise.
  • Gochujang Sauce.
  • Garlic powder & Kosher Salt
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon (optional but recommended).

How to make gochujang mayonnaise

I almost feel a little guilty writing out the steps for making this gochujang mayo because they are so easy. Just in case you don't believe me when I tell you how easy this is, here is what you need to do:

  1. Measure out the mayo and add it to a small bowl.
  2. Measure out gochujang and add it to the same bowl.
  3. Now measure your spices, add this to the bowl, and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
  4. Mix well until smooth.

If you have 2 minutes, you can do this. Two minutes and you will have the most amazing dip or topping for your food.
