About this spiced pear cocktail

If you like easy drinks and you like pears then this spiced pear cocktail is for you. I love pears and I think they are a delicious Fall fruit.

This pear cocktail is my favorite way to enjoy them and I have been making it for years and I still am not sick of it yet. It has warm Fall flavors and fruity notes and it is just plain delicious.

I also love the fact that it is such an easy cocktail recipe. If you have tried my gin gimlet, French gimlet, or Baileys milkshake, you know I love cocktails with only a few ingredients but lots of flavor.

What You Will Need

  • A good-quality vodka. Just like with my apple cider martini, I like Grey Goose Vodka, Absolut Vodka or Titos Vodka.
  • Pear liqueur. This is not the same as pear cognac. Pear liqueur can be found in most liquor stores. If you have pear vodka you can use this in place of the vodka and pear liqueur in the recipe.
  • Spiced Pear simple syrup: Fresh pears (you can use frozen and thawed pears), Granulated sugar, Cinnamon, and Water. You can also make plain Pear simple syrup if you prefer.
  • Fresh lemon wedges.

All of these ingredients in this drink are easily available in all liquor stores. The only thing you will need to make is the pear simple syrup. You can spice this drink up even more with a tablespoon of freshly grated ginger.

Recipe Tip: This syrup is very easy to make and can be made ahead of time!

How to make this pear cosmopolitan

Make the simple syrup:

Combine all of your simple syrup ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer. Once the sugar completely dissolves you take the simple syrup off of the heat and place a lid on top and let it rest.

You will want to plan ahead for this part since the syrup needs about an hour to rest and let the flavor from the pears infuse into the syrup.

Assemble:

Once you have all of your ingredients ready, you are going to add your pear liqueur, pear simple syrup, vodka, and freshly squeezed lemon to a cocktail shaker. Place the lid on tightly and shake well for one minute.

Pour into a martini glass that has been dipped into simple syrup then dipped into some sugar and garnish with a fresh sliced pear.

Tips

  • Make sure to use pear liqueur and not pear brandy. The pear liqueur is slightly sweet and thick and not as strong as pear brandy.
  • Make the simple syrup ahead of time. I think this makes the cocktail even easier when all you are doing is assembling when you want the drink.

This spiced pear cosmopolitan really is the perfect Winter and Fall cocktail. It definitely deserves a spot on your table during the holidays and get-togethers and everyone will love it.

Hi Deanna. I use a brand called Mathilde pear liquor, which is usually available in most liquor stores. Hope this helps 🙂

This sounds delicious! I love ginger and if I want to add it, do I add to the simple syrup, or do I add it when I shake the cocktail ingredients?

Hi Stacey. Ginger is a great addition! I would add it to the simple syrup during the steeping and then strain it out 🙂

      Hi Eileen.
You squeeze the lemon in at the end for a little brightness. This step is optional but it really elevates the drink 🙂
