Why You'll Love This Irish Cream Milkshake

Boozy Milkshakes are so good and this extra creamy Baileys Irish cream milkshake is one of my favorites! This milkshake recipe has Baileys Irish Cream (which is made up of Irish whisky, cream, and cocoa) a touch of espresso (you can also use coffee), good quality vanilla ice cream, and cream.

This Bailey's milkshake is one of the best darn-tasting milkshakes you will ever drink and they are so easy to make!

If you love Baileys as much as I do, you may like my Baileys martini or Baileys eggnog!

What You Will Need

  • Vanilla Ice Cream. I prefer using vanilla ice cream when I make this Baileys milkshake but you could certainly use chocolate if you prefer.
  • Baileys Irish Cream (or any brand of Irish Cream). This is an Irish cream milkshake so Baileys Irish cream is used. You can certainly use any Irish cream brand that is available.
  • Heavy cream. This makes it extra creamy and will help thin the milkshakes. You only need a little!
  • Espresso: (optional) You can also use regular coffee. Just make sure either one you use is cooled.
  • Whipped Cream. This is for the topping (optional).
  • Chocolate syrup. For decorating the inside of the glass (optional).

There are four main ingredients in this Bailey's milkshake recipe and a few optional ones. That is very manageable and worth it for a delicious milkshake.

How To Make A Baileys Milkshake

Making this Bailey's milkshake is so easy. Here are what the steps look like.

  • Scoop your vanilla ice cream into your blender.
  • Add your espresso, cream, and Baileys Irish cream.
  • Mix really well until smooth and creamy.

Tips

  • Blending this milkshake in the blender: If you find that your Baileys milkshake is too thick or not blending well just add a tablespoon more of cream at a time until it moves freely.
  • Making a thick milkshake: To make the thickest boozy milkshake, you want to make sure you are not relying on a lot of liquid to get the milkshake blended. If you like a thicker milkshake, use less cream.

Milkshake Toppings

This Baileys milkshake recipe uses whipped cream for the topping along with a little chocolate syrup. Here are some ideas:

  • Baileys Irish cream whipped cream. Just add a little Baileys to the whipped cream portion of this recipe and whip it up well.
  • Caramel sauce. This would be great drizzled over the top.
  • Sprinkles. Doesn't everything look better with sprinkles! Chocolate sprinkles or rainbow sprinkles would look so festive.

Recipe Faqs

What is Irish Cream?

Irish cream is Irish whiskey and cream along with some added sweeteners and flavors that are combined.

Is Irish cream the same as Baileys?

Yes. Baileys is the original brand of Irish cream. There are however other brands of Irish cream on the market that are not Baileys. They are all made from cream, sweeteners, flavoring, and Irish whisky.

Does Baileys Irish Cream need to be refrigerated?

Technically, because Baileys has whiskey in it, it is safe to keep out after opening. It is still a good idea to refrigerate it after opening since it has sugar and refrigeration can extend the shelf life.

Can Baileys Get You Drunk?

Because Baileys Irish cream has whisky in it, it can cause impairment and should be consumed responsibly.

Do You Need To Shake Baileys Irish Cream?

No. The Irish cream is already well blended.

What To Serve With Baileys

  • baked Irish soda bread with an x pattern on top in a Dutch oven

  • A stack of turmeric cookies on a plate next to a glass of milk.
