Creamy Baileys and Vodka Martini

Jump to Recipe

This Baileys and vodka martini is so easy to make and just plain creamy goodness. This creamy martini is made with Baileys Irish cream, vodka and cream. It is pure comfort food in cocktail form. If you love Baileys cocktails, you are going to fall in love with this martini.

We love whipping up this easy Baileys martini when St Patrick's Day rolls around, but you can also find us sipping on this all year because it is so good.

If you have been following me for a while, you know I love drinking Baileys Irish cream. In this instance, I wanted to make a really creamy martini and let me tell you, it is good. By adding a little vodka and some heavy cream to Irish cream, you get the most amazing cocktail.

My favorite part about this martini is when you shake up the Irish cream and cream in a cocktail shaker with ice, it comes out really cold, frothy and delicious and reminds me a bit of the beginning stages of making ice cream.

If I am not making this martini, you know I will be whipping up my Baileys milkshake , or a Baileys eggnog. I also love just sitting down to a glass of Baileys in the evening just by myself.

Ingredients

There are just a few ingredients you will need:

Baileys and vodka martini in a martini glass with the ingredients in the background.
  • Baileys Irish Cream: Any Irish cream brand will work.
  • Vodka: Your favorite brand.
  • Cream: I like to use heavy cream
  • Dark Chocolate: This is for the shaved chocolate garnish.

How To Make Creamy Baileys And Vodka Martini

Making this Bailey martini is so simple. It is all about adding the ingredients into a cocktail shaker or mason jar and shaking it well.

  1. Measure: Measure out ice, Baileys, Vodka, and Cream and add to a cocktail shaker or mason jar with a tight-fitting lid.
  2. Shake: You want to shake the martini well for about 1 minute or until the cocktail shaker feels cold.
  3. Pour: Pour the cocktail through a strainer into a martini glass. I use a cocktail strainer that comes with my cocktail shaker.
  4. Garnish: I love to garnish this with shaved chocolate. To do this you grate a bar of dark chocolate over a microplane allowing the dark chocolate to fall over a plate. Grab a good pinch of the shaved dark chocolate and sprinkle over the top of the martini.

Tip: When grating the dark chocolate for the garnish, make sure you are using good-quality dark chocolate.

Making This Creamy Martini For A Crowd

If you want to make this ahead of time in a large batch (if you are entertaining), just pour all of the ingredients you need into a pitcher with a lid. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. When you are ready to make the martini, pour 2 servings at a time along with ice into the cocktail shaker, shake, and then serve.

Tips

  • Refrigerate Your Irish Cream: Although there is liquor in Irish cream and it doesn't have to be refrigerated, you will extend its shelf life by storing it in the refrigerator. Irish cream has a high sugar content which can cause it to spoil fast.
  • Chill the martini glasses: A nice cold martini is always the best way to enjoy martinis. If you add your martini glasses to the freezer for about 30 minutes before you want to use them, the martini will stay cold longer after shaking it with ice.

Substitutions And Variations

  • Use any brand of Irish cream: For this martini recipe, we are using Baileys Irish cream. You can use any Irish cream that you have on hand or can find at the store. There is more than one brand of Irish cream available at most liquor stores.
  • Make a chocolate martini - Baileys has a wonderful chocolate liquor that you can use in place of the original Irish cream.
  • Omit the vodka: If you do not want to add vodka, you can just mix up the Baileys and cream portion of this recipe.
  • Leave out the cream: If you prefer to not use cream, you can just omit it and have a pure Baileys and vodka martini.
  • Add a sugar rim: If you love drinks with a sugar rim, go ahead and rub the rim of your glass with baileys and dip it into sugar.
