4 Flavored Simple Syrups You Need to Make

Flavored simple syrups are so easy to make and can really make such a big difference in whatever they are added to. These flavored simple syrup recipes are perfect for cocktails, mocktails, beverages, desserts or breakfast. I have even used flavored simple syrups in some of my savory marinades for meats.

Simple syrup is merely a combination of water a sugar (usually equal parts). The sugar and water are heated together until the sugar dissolves completely. That is a simple syrup, simple!

The need for a simple syrup comes up often with drinks. Just think of when you tried to make iced tea or lemonade and maybe you mixed some sugar into that only to find the sugar will not dissolve. I love adding some in to my Aperol and Soda for a slightly sweeter cocktail. That is where simple syrup comes in handy.

Without heat, sugar will settle to the bottom of any drink. Simple syrups are also really great for cocktails and desserts. My favorite summertime popsicles, basil and grapefruit popsicles, are made with my basil simple syrup. These are so good on a hot summer day!

Once you start making them, you will see how useful they can be. A batch or two of these easy syrups in your fridge will help you quickly throw together a quick beverage for yourself, or a quick effortless cocktail on the weekend.

The syrups last for weeks (or more) in the fridge so you don't have to worry about it going bad anytime soon.

Here are our favorite flavored simple syrup recipes that we stock our fridge with all summer long and we think that you will love them too.

    Strawberry Simple Syrup

Strawberry simple syrup is a classic flavor for so may drinks. This recipe is actually for the tops of the strawberries that are usually thrown out so we made a no waste recipe for them. It can also be made with fresh whole strawberries. Just click the image for more information.

    Basil Simple Syrup

This may be second on the list but this is hands down my absolute favorite of these simple syrups (of all simple syrups really!) If you have only had basil with savory Italian food, you are in for a real treat. Basil actually tastes so much better with sweets (IN MY OPINION) and this flavored syrup is proof.

    Rhubarb Simple Syrup

Rhubarb simple syrup is a great way to capture all of that fresh rhubarb in Spring and make it last all summer. The rhubarb growing season is very short but with a batch of rhubarb simple syrup in your fridge, you can be sipping on cocktails with it for a while!

    Cherry Simple Syrup

Cherry simple syrup is so delicious and much like the rhubarb syrup, is a great way to capture the short growing season of this tasty fruit. I will actually use cherry simple syrup in my summertime marinades and BBq sauces for extra flavor. It is really delicious.
