    Simple Roasted Tenderstem Broccoli (Broccolini)

This roasted tenderstem broccoli is so easy to make and so absolutely delicious. With just a few ingredients (olive oil, lemon and salt), you can make this simple side dish and have it on the table in less than 30 minutes. We love serving this tenderstem broccoli with boneless pork chops, baked pork tenderloin and topping our gochujiang noodles with it. No matter how you serve it, it will be amazing.

    What is Tenderstem Broccoli

Tender stem broccoli is the same as broccolini or long stem broccoli. It is a hybrid between broccoli and Chinese kale. Tenderstem broccoli is a trademarked name used for broccolini.

Most grocery stores sell this vegetable under the name broccolini.

The entire stem of the broccolini is edible so you do not have to cut it. For this recipe, we have decided to cut the long florets in half and roast them in the oven.

You can also leave them fully in tact if you prefer.

    Ingredients Needed

    • Tenerstem broccoli (broccolini)
    • Olive oil
    • Lemon
    • Kosher salt

The ingredients are so simple for the tenderstem broccoli recipe but the flavor is out of this World delicious. Combining lemon, olive oil and salt with roasted veggies is the best combination.

We do this with our caramelized Brussels sprouts too! It is just such a great combination of flavors.

    How to roast tenderstem broccoli

To make this roasted broccolini, the first thing you want to do is decide if you want the broccolini to remain fully intact. Or would you prefer cutting it in half like we did here.

This is a preference and best decided based on what you are serving with the tenderstem broccoli. Since we love adding this on top of pasta and noodles most often, we like to cut them in half. This is totally up to you!

Here are what the steps look:

    1. Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil.
    2. Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.
    3. Add the tenderstem broccoli to the sheet pan.
    4. Drizzle olive oil over the broccoli.
    5. Now sprinkle the kosher salt over the broccoli.
    6. With your hands, gently massage the olive oil and salt into the tenderstem broccoli.
    7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until there is a nice char (slightly burnt edges).
    8. Serve with fresh lemon wedges to be squeezed over top before eating.

This is so easy and so good and the fact that this roasted broccolini takes just minutes to assemble makes it a favorite in our house.

    Variations

Once you see how easy this tenderstem broccoli recipe is, you can start to customize it to your own taste with different seasonings. Although this recipe is great as is, you can certainly add different spices to the broccoli to suit your taste.

You can add mesquite seasoning, blackened spice, chili seasoning, minced garlic or any of your favorite seasonings.
