Pear Simple Syrup

Jump to Recipe

This pear simple syrup is so delicious and requires just a few ingredients and minimal hands-on time to make. It makes a great addition to your cocktails and drinks and it couldn't be any easier to make.

pear simple syrup

Making simple syrups is one of my all-time favorite quick ways to add flavor to drinks. I was recipe-testing a delicious spiced pear martini when I came up with this delicious pear syrup recipe. This. version of pear simple syrup does not have the warm spices like the martini but it is equally as delicious.

The pears blend in so well with the simple syrup and that little bit of effort that goes into making it so worth it! I think you will want to add it to all your cocktails once you try it.

Ingredients you will need

  • Fresh pears. You can also use frozen pears. Just try to stay away from canned pears that are in syrup since they are already sweet.
  • Water
  • Sugar. This is the sweetener for the simple syrup.

All very simple ingredients!

How to Make This Pear Syrup

pear simple syrup on stove
  • Add ingredients to a small saucepan: The first thing you want to do is add the sugar and water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Then you add the sliced pears (you can leave the skins on).
  • Simmer: Bring it to a gentle simmer. You don't want to boil this syrup because we are not making candy, You want a light simmer to bring out the pear juices in the syrup.
  • Cool: After the pears have simmered in the syrup for one minute, remove it from the heat.

  • Cover and rest: Once it has been removed from the heat, give it a good stir and place a lid on the pot. Let the pears steep in the simple syrup for a bit. I like to let the pears steep until the simple syrup comes to room temperature.
  • Strain: After that, just pour it all through a fine mesh sieve and bottle the syrup up.

My favorite ways to use this syrup

My absolute favorite way to use this syrup is in cocktails.

This syrup makes a great addition to hot tea, iced tea, or any dessert that goes well with pear and cinnamon.

Storing

To store this pear syrup, just place it in a container with a lid (once it is cooled) in the refrigerator. The syrup will last for up to two weeks refrigerated.

This was great. A great quick way to add flavor to just plain vodka or gin which is what we did. So good
