What You Will Need
The ingredients are all simple. Here is what you need (full recipe below):
Banana Cake
- 3 really ripe bananas: Overripe is even better! (plus an extra one for the top if you want to add sliced bananas to the top of your cake).
- Vegetable oil: This keeps the banana bread moist.
- Eggs: I like to use large eggs
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar: This adds so much flavor!
- Yogurt: Just a little.
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder: This helps with the rise.
- Baking soda
- Vanilla extract: Try to find a good quality one.
Whipped ricotta with honey topping
- Ricotta: Whole milk ricotta works best.
- Honey: This is the sweetener for the whipped ricotta.
- Vanilla extract
Recipe Note: If you would prefer not to make the whipped ricotta topping, the banana bread will taste amazing on its own. You can also whip up this easy condensed milk sauce to serve alongside this cake and it would be extra delicious.
