Jump to Recipe

This goat cheese crostini is full of flavor from the capers, roasted red peppers, and herbs and is perfect for entertaining or the holidays. Easy to make and so delicious.

Crostini with goat cheese spread on top on a large plate.

Crostini is one of my absolute favorite ways to eat so many foods. It can handle almost any flavor combination whether sweet or savory.

This goat cheese crostini recipe is a flavor explosion in your mouth thanks to the saltiness from the capers, the sweetness of the roasted red peppers, and the freshness from the herbs and garlic.

This crostini makes a great appetizer when entertaining or a light meal during the warmer months. It is a really delicious treat.

The ingredients needed

  • goat cheese. The goat cheese is the base for all the delicious flavor add-ins.
  • capers. The capers add a salty bite to the goat cheese spread.
  • roasted red peppers (I like to buy them in the jar already made!). Buying them already roasted will save you so much time so I highly recommend doing that.
  • fresh herbs and green onions. Use your favorite fresh herbs here.
  • garlic. Try to use only fresh garlic.
  • salt and pepper
  • bread for your crostini. I prefer a baguette-style bread for the crostini but you can also use a ciabatta or rustic bread that is sliced up.

How To Make Goat Cheese Crostini

Making this could not be any simpler. Here is what it looks like:

Make the crostini

  • Cut the baguette bread into slices then brush with some olive oil and toast up under the broiler. Make sure to crisp up both sides.

Make the goat cheese spread

  • Just mix all of the ingredients together in a large bowl until well combined.

The key to making the goat cheese spread that gets slathered on top of the crostini is making sure the goat cheese is at room temperature to ensure easy mixing of all of the ingredients.

Making This Ahead of Time

The goat cheese spread for these crostini can be made ahead of time making it a great party appetizer as well. I love making a big batch of this spread and keeping it in the refrigerator for a quick and tasty lunch.

All I have to do is quickly make the crostini under the broiler and then top it with this wonderful goat cheese spread.

You can also use this delicious goat cheese spread on crackers or as a dip for veggies. It makes a great spread to serve guests too.

Variations

You can use whatever fresh herbs you have on hand for this goat cheese crostini. The goat cheese spread really stands up to bold flavors.

Just try to find herbs that go well with the capers and red peppers.

If you cannot get your hands on fresh herbs, the capers, garlic, and roasted red peppers have enough flavor on their own. I have done this before when I only have these pantry staples around and it tastes just as amazing.
